Recent developments in syntheses and electrocatalytic properties of mixed metal nanoparticles are reviewed specifically for applications in fuel cells. The role of nanostructured supports for the nanoparticles, such as ordered mesoporous carbon is also discussed.

Platinum nanoparticles were deposited on HOPG and its stability in HClO4 at a fixed potential was investigated. The formation of blisters was observed after it was kept at 1.0 V vs. RHE, especially at and around the Pt particles. FE-SEM observations revealed that Pt particles remained at their original positions after the formation of blisters.

Remarks:
AFM was done ex situ. The authors stated that systematic investigations are under way.

Das Portal bündelt Basisinformationen, Nachrichten, Hintergrundberichte, Tipps, Hinweise und Termine. Es dient dem Austausch und der Netzwerkbildung zwischen jüngeren Wissenschaftlerinnen und Wissenschaftlern.

Das Open Source Jahrbuch 2006 ist vor etwas mehr als einer Woche erschienen. In dritten Teil des Buches “Wissensgesellschaft – Macht der Netze” geht es u.a. um “Freies Wissen und freie Inhalte im Internet” und “Open Access” in der Wissenschaft. Das Buch steht zum Download kostenlos bereit oder kann bis zum 31.03.2006 zum Einführungspreis von 19.90 EUR käuflich erworben werden. Ein Blog mit aktuellen Infos rund um das Thema Open Source gibt es dort natürlich auch.

Inspiriert vom Erfolg vergleichbarer Projekte an amerikanischen Eliteuniversitäten, wurde das Projekt von sechs Studenten der TU Berlin im April 2003 am Lehrstuhl Informatik und Gesellschaft zusammen mit Prof. Dr. iur. Bernd Lutterbeck und Robert A. Gehring ins Leben gerufen. Bisher sind drei Jahrbücher erschienen.

The Budapest Open Access Initiative arises from a small but lively meeting convened in Budapest by the Open Society Institute (OSI) on December 1-2, 2001.
