About

About Me and the Weblog:

As you may conclude from the name of this website, it`s about chemistry. I have finished my PHD in chemistry in January 2004. My studies were about surface analysis and electrochemistry on Cobalt oxide layers (PHD Thesis - de).
I am fascinated about Scanning Tunneling Microscopy and all these techniques, which make it possible to investigate and visualize surfaces down to the atomic scale. This fascination started in 1986, when I was about 14 years old and saw the three little letters written with atoms on TV…this experience was one of the main reasons for me to study this subject - and it worked…I have observed atoms…:)
However, I am also interested in several other fields, so that the content of the weblog is about the things I am interested in at the moment I decide it is worth publishing them.

About Me:
My name is Annette Foelske, I live together with the Webmaster of this site and two guinea pigs in Zürich (Switzerland). In June 2004 I got a job at the Electrochemistry Laboratory of the Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI).

Originally I come from Germany (near Neanderthal).
I am also a team member of WordPress.de. WordPress is the software working behind this website and with that project we intend to increase its popularity in the german speaking parts of the world.
